A taste of Australian school and family life!

In July, Year 5 and 6 students from Hokkaido, Tokyo and Osaka joined the Palaygo Tour in Melbourne, experiencing both an Australian primary school and homestay life.

Students stayed with local families whose children study Japanese and attended school alongside their host brothers and sisters — making communication and friendship a natural part of everyday life!

Over the weekend, with support from Asialink, University of Melbourne, the students visited the university for a special lecture — and even introduced themselves to the lecturers in English!

There were plenty of unforgettable moments — playing footy at the park and beach, celebrating a host sister’s birthday, receiving a 3D-printed gift and, of course, spotting wild kangaroos!

But perhaps the most special part was the friendships. Students formed close bonds with their host families, Australian classmates and fellow participants from across Japan. One parent told us, “They haven’t stopped talking about it since they got home!”

And the exchange doesn’t have to end at the airport! Students can continue their friendships online through Palaygo!
